This week's episode of Data Exposed Scott welcomes two awesome individuals, Torsten Grabs and Morgan Oslake (Principal PM in the SQL product group), to talk about the great topic of Azure SQL Database Elastic Pools and Elastic Jobs. We also have a surprise guest on the show, but we'll get to that shortly. ;)

[00:32] - Morgan provides an overview of Elastic Pools and how they are being used today, scenarios where they come into play and how applications can benefit from the performance and scale technology.

[03:00] - Elastic Pool Demo - Set up and configuration, resource utilization patterns (for figuring out which databases to put in an Elastic Pool), and built-in analytics for configuring performance objectives for the pool. Morgan also shows how to check resource utilization and setting alerts, and the ease with which the compute provisioned for pools can be resized with no downtime of the underlying application.

[08:35] -  Elastic Jobs overview and uses cases discussion by Torsten.

[10:55] - Elastic Jobs demo - Creating and running a job, what happens behind the scenes when jobs are created and run, and how to view the status of all the tasks that are running as part of the job.

[15:10] Our special, surprise guest, Morten Christensen, via Skype all the way from Copenhagen, Denmark. Morten is a solution architect from Umbraco and spends a few minutes discussing how they use Elastic Pools and the benefits they have received by using Azure SQL Database and Elastic Pools. We'd like to thank Morten for his time and for the insight.

When will the elastic jobs support the dacpac for the azure sql v12? This is the only show stopper for us being able to use this with our CD pipelines.
