Azure Search Suggestions

Sign in to queue

We just can't get enough of Liam Cavanagh because he is back again on Data Exposed to talk about how to use suggestions in Azure Search. Liam, a Senior Program Manager for Azure Search wastes no time as he jumps right in, first explaining the overall concepts of how search suggestions should work, and follows that up by showing how to implement and configure search suggestions against Azure search into your application. Awesome stuff and very powerful.

I think this is a great idea, but the free plan maxes out very quickly because of the number of docs we have and the next tier is a big jump. Microsoft needs to offer some better pricing for those low number of queries but lots of docs.

    Hi DesB,

You are absolutely correct about the jump being to larger from free to paid, and we have heard this numerous times. In fact it is the #1 request on our UserVoice page ( Although I can not provide any specifics around timelines, I can say this is something we are looking into.

Great! Thanks Liam, we will certainly be using this if there is a middle point. Thanks for all your hard work, it is very much appreciated.

Is there any sample code for hooking up Bootstrap TypeAhead, MVC, and Azure Search?

    TIA, Pete

Downloaded demo and loaded index successfully. Web app doesn't work - the %QUERY is passed into C# layer as a value of "q" parameter (HomeController) instead of whatever I am typing in. Then it simply doesn't react. Browsers: IE 11, Chrome - doesn't matter. I wonder what's wrong. Perhaps, Twitter introduced breaking changes into their latest Bloodhound.
