QR codes are scanned from the physical environment to supply reference points at which to pin the global Unity coordinate space to the physical world. World Locking Tools for Unity's then keeps the virtual representation optimally aligned with the physical world across tracking error, tracking loss, and even, using the optional persistence feature, across sessions.
