In this episode Symon interviews Eamon O'Reilly, a Principal Program Manager Lead in System Center, to discuss the features and benefits of the Service Management Automation (SMA) in the Windows Azure Pack (WAP).  SMA provides automation of administrative tasks (such as deploying virtual machines) through the WAP management portal, and integrates with System Center and Windows Server, while running on PowerShell workflows.

In this interview that starts at [07:05], we cover:

  • [07:30] Why is automation important?

  • [08:35] What are Microsoft's different automation solutions?

Very interesting SMA topic. Thanks for this.
Another source for a huge amount of Windows Azure Pack related content is the Windows Azure Pack Wiki which also has a lengthy SMA category. I try to keep this list updated every Friday.

Hi Symon, Is it worthwhile to use orchestration in Public Cloud development which creates VM, Cloud Service, Storage Account etc.,

If yes, please let me know how?

@Pushpa:Hi Pushpa - Yes, you can use automation across all types of infrastructure, including public clouds.  System Center Orchestrator has an Azure Integration Pack.  SMA for WAP can use PowerShell for Azure.  Last week, Azure released its own automation service: http://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/services/automation/
