    one thing you overlooked to mention and it might seem like a given, but it's key is to tell everyone that you actually need a server with physical hard disks up front to create a storage pool.  If you have a server with a single 200GB hard drive and nothing more then you cannot use the storage space technology to create a pool of 5 TB disks.
