Okay, okay, we're back! After a brief winter break Microsoft tech troubleshooter extraordinaire Gov Maharaj and I help walk you through troubleshooting solutions to your tech support problems.       1) Deploy required apps via SCCM to Windows 8, app is set to install for all users and is targeted at a device collection and to install without user logged in. In our environment computers versus users is not one to one and users may use several different devices during the day. The software is a site license so it can and should be installed on all systems. What we currently see is that shortcuts will not be created on the start screen for all users, there doesn't appear to be an all users start screen so does Microsoft either
      a) expect each user on each machine to naturally search for apps or
      b) expect some serious scripting to replicate icons on each users start screen or
      c) System Center SP1 addresses this?

      2) Windows 8 App Store, I take it this is not for business or education use as there doesn't appear to be any way for centralized control of purchases or account management for Microsoft Accounts by the company that purchases both the hardware and software. I know App Locker and group policy can do some things in this area but it doesn't address Windows RT devices at all. I know the just released version of Intune has some RT options but it doesn't address the creation and authorization of Microsoft Accounts beyond what would appear to be a very manual and time consuming process. I feel sorry for K12 schools because they though RT was the answer to the iPad and the Chromebook with Live@EDU and the ability for them to generate Microsoft Accounts, oops they are royally hosed.

      I strongly suggest that you take a look at Windows Intune. You can get a free 30 day trial. It allows you to push apps to all Intune devices, run a company store and it connects to SCCM / ActiveDirectory and works with all Windows8 devices including Windows RT. You can also configure iOS and Android devices using it - including foreign BYOD deviecs, so it's a good all-purpose solution for the enterprise and seems to solve lots of the problems you're coming across.

      [14:08] - Problems uninstalling Symantec Endpoint Protection 2012.

      Instead of doing a refresh, simply click on the last button (Advanced setup) and select "system restore" and set the system back to the point BEFORE you've installed Symantec.

      There is a "manual method" choice that will detail the 40 steps that are necessary.  You could also contact Symantec support and obtain the "Cleanwipe" utility (I'm not sure if that will run under Windows 8)

      Thanks for the suggestions from Gov, magicAndre and tech42. I've since removed the Symantec by running a recent version of CleanWipe that I found somewhere online (The Symantec support didn't get back to me for cleanwipe request).

      I've installed the Symantec Endpoint 12.1.2015 which is built for Win 8.
