Infrastructure as Code
Previously on Visual Studio Toolbox, Chuck Sterling showed how to load test your Web Sites so that you can see how well your software responds to various levels of usage. In this episode, Chuck returns to show that it is now much easier to set up load testing. You can do this right from the Visual Studio Online home page! Chuck has Robert create and run a load test to confirm that a performance issue has been fixed in a demo app.
For more information, check out his blog post, as well as Brian Harry's.
What version of VS 2013 do you need in order to create the load test?
@MarkDIS: Brian Harry had this on his blog:
"..it is only available to VS Online customers licensed with an MSDN Ultimate subscription. We're having a conversation about whether or not we want to leave it that way but that's the status for now."
Robert
Too bad this requires Ultimate. Who can afford Ultimate?
Exactly - who can afford that? Enterprise companies, that's who!
Microsoft is slowly leaning towards cloud and pay-for-what-you-use, but SQL Server Enterprise and Visual Studio Ultimate lags behind BIG TIME.
I can't wait for those products to catch up and make sense in a cloud world.
Mobile first, cloud first, right? :P
