CodeChat 008 - Michael Palermo (JavaScript and Such)

28 minutes, 48 seconds

Right click “Save as…”

In this episode of CodeChat, I steal some time after recording some MVA courses in an alternate studio to have a chat with Michael Palermo who, like me, is a DX Evangelist for Microsoft. Also like me, Michael is in the JavaScript space and having fun with it. In our conversation we explore the current position of JavaScript and speculate about its future.

  • Too much chit chat fluff, I was hoping for a more substantial presentation..:(

  • I really enjoyed this interview.  I have watched a lot of the MVA courses presented by you two.  I can see how someone would want more actual code based on the title but all they need to do is go over to the MVA site and search for JavaScript.

I also want to thank Michael for remembering us enterprise type developers!

Relating to people focusing on one thing, I personally I feel developers are interested in all of the things that are going on right now. Most of us just have to balance our "free" time and wind up focusing more on what will improve our performance on the job or help us land our next job.

Is there any chance the links could also be listed in the description like on Ping?

  • @ArneATK: Welcome to CodeChat :) Plenty of chit chat fluff. We bring up some code when it applies, but we're rich on banter.

  • @SheldonS: Great idea on including links. I've been wanting to do that anyway. I'm going to start and if I have time I'll even make it retroactive :) Take care.

  • Where can I get the WinJS Shirt and other Microsoft apparel?

  • @HaloNinja: I checked and the only way to get a suave WinJS shirt like Michael and I were wearing is to get a contribution accepted to the official WinJS repo on GitHub. It's a high bar I know. :)

  • Terrific CodeChat - great follow-up after the 3 day Jump Start from last week.  For anyone that didn't attend, check out the recording that should show up on MVA in the next week or so.  Best Jump Start I've attended so far.  Thanks too, for the pointer to the OneNote API in this session.
