Introduction to the VR Web

Hey everyone!

In this episode of Just A/VR Show, I talk about the VR Web, WebVR, and play with virtual reality in outer space! If you're a web developer, or just interested in how today's browsers are beginning to support VR devices, this is the video for you!

One clarification: I make a comment when I'm talking about the downsides of WebVR around non-native graphics and I want to clarify that WebVR through Three.JS and WebGL is, in fact, using the capabilities of the graphics card directly and my comment was not quite accurate. This is a good overview of the differences between WebGL and native 3D.

Somehow I missed the first show - really pleased to see this show on Channel 9!

As someone who has followed 3D for a long time (and I mean a long time - I have a collection of old Taxiphote etc etc :) I am keen to stay up to date with VR.

PS I just got a Samsung VR headset which I use with an S6 - I am finding this a better alternative to the DK2 kit from Oculus (though no doubt things are going to change in Q1 2016 following CES)

PS I notice you are using a Mac - can you outline advantages/disadvantages of a Mac over a Windows devices? (I am using Windows)

Hi Ian! I'm glad that you're enjoying the content! I love VR and getting to talk about it is so much fun for me! I've also got the GearVR headset too - I think that they're both great devices, and I've been having a blast developing for each of them.

I'm actually running Windows 10 on my Mac, since I need to use a laptop with an HDMI port on it and my Surface only has a mini display port. :)

Why are you using probably the worst hardware possible...?
Macbook are underclocked, not serious for a (real) geek (batter for "artists")

You are using windows 10 on your Mac, that's true, and the video is amazing..

But please, don't use a mac, people don't read comments..
