Hello everyone!

In today's episode of Just A/VR Show, I cover a few of the basics for adding SteamVR support for the HTC Vive to a Unity project. You'll learn about getting the SteamVR plugin, using the basic camera for the Vive, see how controllers are handled, and add in a few behaviors for our hand controllers, too!

You can grab Unity for free at:

Setup* guide for the HTC Vive:

The OpenVR GitHub project (not necessary for this video, but is interesting to poke through!):

Additionally, you can check out the project to capture more information about learning VR development over at

*I misspeak in the video and mention an "SDK" - there isn't an actual separate download to get started with this

For those who are not good at 3D modelling, you can buy some cheap and royalty-free 3D models online. That's what I did for my portfolio.

The HTC Vive VR Cover offers an easy way to keep your Vive clean. The waterproof Vive VR Covers are made from a soft leather like material (similar to what is used for high quality headphones) and are easy to clean. They are perfect for demoing or whenever you use one Vive with many people. Simply wipe down the headset with antibacterial wipes in between uses and you are good to go again.
