//build/ HackaThon winner, Social Squares, now available in Windows Phone Store
For our Winner Wednesday post, I'm doing something that I usually don't (but am going to anyway). We're highlighting a Windows Phone 8 app that's for sale in the Windows Phone store.
So? This app is the winner of the //build/ 2012 HackaThon event! An event that many on the Channel 9 team were heavily involved with and it's just cool to see that turn into this kind of real-world result...
This is a great game built off your Facebook friends. It was the winning Windows Phone 8 at Microsoft Build HackaThon this past October – they judges said that they could not put it down.
This app runs on both Windows Phone 7 and Phone 8 – on phone 8 NFC is enabled to allow two people to challenge scores etc.
Social Squares v1.0 – Winner Microsoft Build 2012 HackaThon
Turn your social network into a fast and fun game with Social Squares. This Hollywood Squares style game test how well you really know your friends by bringing together your friends Facebook data.
On initial launch of the game the player is asked to login using their Facebook account. Once this login succeeds their friend’s data is pulled down to the phone to be used in game play. The app allows the player to refresh the data from time to time. Additionally, the app allows the player to log out and allows another player to log into the game.
The game supports 3 levels – easy, medium and hard. Easy level presents 2 possible answers, medium presents 4 possible answers and hard level presents 6 possible answers.
You can purchase the app here.
