Kinect 2 Hands On Labs - Labs as in 14!

I'm not sure how I came across this, but I am glad I did as this is a great new series of labs (and source) to get you started building great Kinect for Windows v2 apps. This is now on the top of my Kinect Resources list... :)

Kinect 2 Hands On Labs

Welcome to the Kinect 2 Hands on Labs!

This series will show you how to build a Windows 8.1 store app which uses almost every feature of the Kinect 2. The lessons in this series work the best when completed in order.

You can download a master copy of the complete app and all labs and referenced libraries through the github links on the left.

Or if you know a bit about development with the Kinect 2 already, you can skip to a particular lab by navigating to it at the top of the page. The running codebase is available through a link at the bottom of each page, which is complete and runnable as if you have just finished that lab.

If you have any suggestions or would like to report any bugs, please leave some feedback on the Kinect Tutorial GitHub Issues page.

Enjoy the labs and have fun!

    hey thanks i tried opening the source code but the app does not seem to be calling the kinect to turn on?

    only kinect studio, the samples in the sdk and some of the older c# codes successfully turns on the v2 sensor but not these?

    @blacky: Best bet to make sure the actual author sees the issue would be to post the issue on the github project, https://github.com/Kinect/tutorial/issues

  • Hello, Thank you very much for presenting such a nice tutorials. I want to work on Kinect v2 sensor, but before I have some confusion about the unique features of depth and infrared images.

    For the depth images, as we know that if the person move forward or backward the distance between the person and sensor changes. Hence, at the output we get an image with different depth values.

    But for the case of infrared images, is there any change in the pixel values of an infrared image as a person moves forward or backward?

    Infrared images can show same intensity image if the person standing in full dark room, but how it will be for the depth image?

    @adnan86: That's a great question and one I can't answer.. :(

    Drop the team a note in the Issues for this tutorial and hopefully they will be able to get back to you with that info, https://github.com/Kinect/Tutorial/issues/new
