Ray Chambers, friend of the Gallery, is back with something doubles up the Kinect's classroom fun.

What is Kodu?

Kodu lets kids create games on the PC and XBox via a simple visual programming language. Kodu can be used to teach creativity, problem solving, storytelling, as well as programming. Anyone can use Kodu to make a game, young children as well as adults with no design or programming skills.

Kinect Emulator–For Kodu FULL RELEASE!

Back in December, I started showing some early phases of something called “Kinect for Kodu”. It was a basic emulator which involved lots of different features including speech recognition. A few people have contacted me with regards to the use of the Kinect and they have also asked about when the source code will be released. I can officially announce that as part of the K-Team. Today is the day!

I had deliberately held off on the release of this because I have been testing the new hardware out over the Christmas Holidays. I was lucky enough to test the product early. After seeing some of the advanced features, I held off. I am now able to get my apps to include small things which help the user.

Have a look at these photo’s below to see it in action. You can also see the video footage of it running. I must apologise for how choppy the sound is. My laptop didn’t like to run video recording software and other applications at the same time.

You can download this application from here, alternatively you can join the Microsoft Partners In Learning Network and download it here. There will be a library of resources just for the Kinect and Kodu and all you need to do is search for the author “Kteam”. Keep updated and follow the progress of the newly launched K-Team!
