This video load quick then MVA. MVA video load very slow then this. This ch9 video are load better and good at the quality (picture-quality). If you applied some magic then can you do same for MVA too.

@Kris: I"m pretty sure they're all hosted by Channel9 regardless of where they're displayed.  Maybe a lag in your network connection?  Either way, you'll want to contact either MVA or Channel9 of both and I'm sure they'll help you sort it out.  Good luck!

@kennai: This is just an update for 2013.  I've not changed much, but based on feedback from the 2010 version I did update a few things throughout the series.  I wouldn't recommend watching it again ... it will be 80%-90% the same.

@alpha007: I know this is a bit late (sorry) but this series is an entry point into *many* adventures afterwards.  You could go into web app development (ASP.NET Web Forms or MVC) or into windows / client development (Phone, Windows Store, Windows Desktop apps, etc.).  But it all begins with knowing the lingua franca, C#.

Hey I just downloaded https://channel9.msdn.com/Series/C-Sharp-Fundamentals-Development-for-Absolute-Beginners this for c-sharp fundamentals.
I am new to c# , is there any major difference in the old version and new version?

  • User profile image
    BobTabor

@Anky19: (As I said in our email) there's nothing that would prevent you from moving forward.  Minor stuff.  Good luck.

I cant find the Console Application template. Any Tips?

  • User profile image
    BobTabor

@Shehriyar: Yes, you need to have Visual Studio 2013 Express for Windows DESKTOP ... NOT ... just "Windows".

@BobAke Is there not a pdf version of this c# tutorial? Switching between pdf and visual studio is convenient than video and visual studio for learning and practicing purpose. Thanks

I installed VS Express 2013 for Windows Desktop about 8 months ago and I don't have the Visual C# template.

    BobTabor

@NETdeveloper: Hi, please double check ... go to Help menu, choose About at the bottom ... the About dialog pops open.

Make sure that it says EXACTLY this in the top left side of the dialog:

Microsoft Visual Studio Express 2013 for Windows Desktop

    Version 12.0.30501.00

    etc.

If not, type in EXACTLY what you see in your About window.

Thanks for all of your awesome toturials!
but can you make a PDF version of this one like WP development guide please?
it's much easier to learn and practice from a PDF.

Bob!  So good to see these out here.  I learned VB 2003 from you from exactly this kind of forum.  I've had a LearnVisualStudio.NET subscription since those days (Lifetime plan cannot be beat).  Now my nephew wants to make a career change and become a programmer, so I've already sent the link for these classes to him.  Even though I love VB most, I think he'll have better opportunities in the job market with C#.  I'm going through these because I'm tired of using a CS2VB translator ... Thanks.  Kay

Hi Bob, just thought I'd say thanks for these excellent and easy to understand videos, great job!
In addition to the beginnings of C# I learnt that 'preciseness' is a word. I was all ready to say "surely he means precision" but I stand corrected!
    Thanks,
    Neil

    Hello Bob

I am using the automatic prompts from VS. However, I keep getting an unwanted space after the term chosen.  You don't seem to get this space. e.g. "Console", I select by tapping the space bar but, then I have to backspace to put in the ".WriteLine" and then I have to backspace again to put in the brackets.

What am I doing wrong please?

    Kind regards

Hello, I am getting a trial period expired message and it is prompting me to sign in to Visual Studio. After I sign in, am I on another trial period or is the software mine to use as long as I want? Any help would be appreciated, I am a teacher and am working on setting up my lab for students.

    Thank you!

@Mike: Things have changed since I recorded that video ... in fact less than a month ago Microsoft released Visual Studio Community Edition which is basically the full Visual Studio.

    http://www.visualstudio.com/en-us/news/vs2013-community-vs.aspx

I'm not sure why you got a trial period expiration IF YOU INSTALLED the EXPRESS EDITION of Visual Studio like I suggest for this series.  You MAY need to re-request a developer license for building Windows Store and Phone apps, but that's just a simple re-request (free).  I know it's confusing.  Microsoft loves editions.  :)

@maureenmj1: Hmm... Are you sure you are typing that command inside of the correct set of curly braces?  When you find yourself "fighting intellisense" that usually means you're attempting to do something that is not allowed.  In other words, you are attempting to use the Console class name outside of a method block as indicated by the inner-most curly braces { } ... do you think that might be true?
